The brief arrived on WhatsApp with three photos and one sentence: "We want this wall to feel like waking up in a garden, not a hotel." The couple had just moved into a new-build apartment in Dubai Creek Harbour — high ceilings, huge windows facing the water, and one large blank wall behind the headboard that neither of them could figure out what to do with.
The brief
They had lived with painted feature walls before and were bored of them. A photograph felt too literal. Standard florals felt too grandma. What they wanted, without quite knowing the word for it, was a watercolour floral wallpaper — soft-edged, atmospheric, painterly rather than graphic — that would sit calmly behind a linen bed and hold the room together at first light and at night.
The design
We built the mural in three passes. The base was a wash of cream so pale it reads as light rather than colour. Over that, blush and dusty-rose petals were hand-drawn in loose watercolour strokes — some fully formed, others deliberately half-finished, so the eye keeps travelling. A whisper of sage green connects the composition without ever taking centre stage. Nothing repeats; the whole wall is one continuous, seamless painting.
Because it was designed for their exact wall — 3.2 metres wide by 2.7 metres tall — every bloom sits where it needs to sit. Nothing lands awkwardly behind the headboard. Nothing gets cut in half by a ceiling line.
The install
Our Dubai team measured the wall, prepped it (the emulsion was fresh, so we let it cure fully before touching it), and installed the mural in a single afternoon. Because it's paste-the-wall vinyl on non-woven backing, it goes up like fabric — no bubbles, no seams that catch your eye when you're lying in bed.
They sent a photo two nights later, taken from bed at 10pm, lamps on. It looked less like a wallpapered wall and more like a very still, very large painting they happened to own.
