There is something uniquely satisfying about a space that has been designed with real specificity. Not assembled from whatever was available, but genuinely considered — every element chosen for this room, these proportions, this light. Custom wallpaper is one of the most powerful ways to achieve that feeling, and in Dubai, where walls often come in unusual sizes and interior ambitions run high, it is also one of the most practical.
At La Belle Maison, everything we do is made to order. This article explains what custom wallpaper actually means, how the process works, and what you can expect when you commission something truly your own.
What Does "Custom Wallpaper" Actually Mean?
The term gets used loosely in the interiors industry, so it is worth being clear. At La Belle Maison, custom wallpaper means three things:
- Custom sizing: Your wallpaper is produced to the exact dimensions of your walls. No trimming to fit, no awkward off-cuts at the top or bottom, no compromises around architectural features.
- Custom imagery: If you have a specific image, illustration, or artwork in mind, we can print it. Whether it is a photograph you have taken, an artwork by a favourite artist (with appropriate permissions), or a design you have created yourself, we handle the print production.
- Custom colour matching: For clients with a very specific palette in mind — a particular shade that needs to tie into existing upholstery or joinery — we offer colour matching services to ensure the result is exactly right.
Who Commissions Custom Wallpaper in Dubai?
Our custom wallpaper clients come from across the design and property landscape in the UAE. A few of the most common scenarios:
Homeowners with Unusual Walls
Dubai villas frequently feature walls with challenging proportions: extra height, unusual width, or architectural interruptions like recesses, columns, and angles. Standard roll widths and pattern repeats do not always accommodate these gracefully. A custom-printed mural or a custom-sized wallpaper installation solves the problem entirely.
Interior Designers
Professional interior designers working on high-spec residential or commercial projects often need something that does not exist in any catalogue. We work closely with designers to bring their visions to print, handling material specifications, colour profiles, and installation logistics so the project runs smoothly.
Hotels and Commercial Spaces
Hotels, restaurants, and retail spaces across Dubai and Abu Dhabi increasingly recognise the power of wall art at scale. A branded mural in a hotel lobby, a bespoke botanical installation in a restaurant, a custom geometric feature wall in a retail environment — these are commissions we love.
Our Custom Wallpaper Process
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a conversation — in person or via WhatsApp — to understand your space, your aesthetic, and what you are hoping to achieve. If you have reference images, bring them. If you have a vague feeling rather than a clear image, that is equally fine. Our job is to help you find the right direction.
2. Wall Measurement and Assessment
We visit your space to take precise measurements and assess the wall surface. This determines print sizing and any preparation work required.
3. Design Development
If you are working with an image from our Muravi collection, we adapt it to your exact wall dimensions. If you are commissioning something entirely bespoke, we work with you (and, where appropriate, with artists or illustrators) to develop the design.
4. Print Production
Your wallpaper is printed on premium material using high-resolution digital printing. We review print proofs before production begins.
5. Professional Installation
Our team installs your custom wallpaper with the same precision we bring to every project. For installations above 15 square metres, installation is included at no additional charge.
What Does Custom Wallpaper Cost in Dubai?
Custom mural wallpaper from our Muravi print collection starts at 160 AED per square metre. For a standard bedroom feature wall of approximately 12 square metres, this represents a genuinely accessible investment. For larger projects — a living room wall, a hotel corridor, a lobby installation — we provide detailed quotes based on your specific requirements.
Our AdaWall roll wallpaper collection, while not custom-printed, is available in custom lengths and can be ordered in larger quantities for commercial projects at 780 AED per roll.
Start Your Custom Wallpaper Project
The easiest way to begin is a conversation. Send us your wall dimensions and a sense of the look you are after — a photograph, a colour reference, a mood board, or simply a description. We will come back with options and a clear, itemised quote.
