Dubai skyline view from a high-rise apartment, representing Marina and Downtown Dubai interiors

Wallpaper Ideas for Dubai Marina & Downtown Dubai Apartments

Dubai Marina and Downtown Dubai are the city's two most in-demand high-rise addresses, and they could not ask more different things of a wallpaper. A Marina apartment is built around water: floor-to-ceiling glazing framing the harbour, the yachts, the constant low-rise sprawl of towers along the promenade. A Downtown apartment is built around the Burj Khalifa and the fountain — a vertical, architectural view rather than a horizontal, moving one. Both are view-first homes. Both need a wall treatment that knows its place next to that view rather than competing with it. But 'view-first' does not mean 'wallpaper-last' — in a smaller floor plate, the walls that aren't glass carry more visual weight than they would in a villa, not less.

Dubai Marina: Designing Around Water

Marina interiors read best when one wall is allowed real depth of colour or pattern, placed perpendicular to the glazing so it sits in the same glance as the view rather than fighting it. Muted, sea-adjacent tones — soft aquas, sandy neutrals, the pale gold of the towers at sunset — read as an extension of the water outside. A deeper, richer palette — indigo, emerald, charcoal botanicals — reads as a deliberate counterpoint instead. Either works. A safe mid-tone that commits to neither is the one choice that reliably falls flat.

In the Marina's mostly open-plan layouts, three placements consistently perform best: the entry wall, which is a guest's first impression before the living room opens onto the view; the headboard wall in the primary bedroom, which gives the room a sense of enclosure that glass alone can't provide; and the powder room, usually the one space in the apartment without a view to defer to, and so the place to be genuinely bold. Downtown Dubai: Designing Around Architecture

Downtown apartments — in the Burj Khalifa's immediate towers, along Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, or overlooking the Dubai Fountain — present a different brief. The view is vertical and architectural rather than horizontal and aquatic, and the interiors around it tend to run more formal: taller ceilings in the older Downtown towers, a more considered material palette, entertaining spaces built for guests who arrive expecting a degree of polish. Wallpaper here does well when it echoes that architectural register — geometric pattern, marbled stone motifs, or a graphic mural with real structure to it — rather than competing with the soft, painterly approach that suits a Marina living room.

Downtown's building stock also runs a wider range of ceiling heights and wall proportions than the Marina's more uniform towers, from compact one-bedroom layouts to double-height living rooms in the premium developments. That variation makes an accurate on-site measurement especially important before any design is scaled and printed — a mural sized for the wrong ceiling height is the single most common source of a disappointing installation. Our custom mural process for this neighbourhood, including sourcing and design options suited to Downtown's more formal interiors, is covered on our custom murals in Downtown Dubai page.

Murals vs. Roll Wallpaper in Either Neighbourhood

Both neighbourhoods have a significant share of tenanted and investment units alongside owner-occupied homes, and that shapes the right product choice as much as the view does. Owner-occupiers committing to a long-term home are well served by a fully custom mural, scaled to the exact wall and installed to last. Owners furnishing a unit for the rental market, or tenants improving a space they don't own outright, often do better with our ready-to-scale mural designs or roll wallpaper from the AdaWall catalogue — both still made to measure and professionally installed, at a lower commitment than a fully bespoke commission.

Commissioning Wallpaper in Dubai Marina or Downtown Dubai

Every project begins with an in-home measurement visit, charged at AED 100 and fully redeemable against the final order if you proceed. Mural pricing starts at 160 AED per sqm, with a 5 sqm minimum order. Installation is complimentary for orders of 15 sqm or more; below that threshold, a 250 AED installation fee applies. From approved design to installed wall, most projects in either neighbourhood complete within 7–10 business days.

A striking view is not, on its own, a finished interior. The apartments that feel considered rather than merely furnished are the ones where the walls were designed with as much intention as the window they sit beside.
